ASTRID

Expands our philosophy of musical performance
With Astrid, we have focused intensely on reproducing voices with natural presence, body, and continuity, supported by a bass foundation that feels controlled, physical, and alive.

Built as a true 2-way line source loudspeaker, Astrid is designed to create a presentation where recordings unfold with openness, coherence, and natural flow.
Astrid originates from the Old Norse Ásfríðr, meaning “beloved by the gods.”

In Nordic tradition, the name is associated with strength, wisdom, and grace — qualities that reflect the loudspeaker’s balanced combination of openness, precision, and authority.

A Long-Awaited Addition

Astrid has existed as an idea within
the SV-Audio range for a long time.

From the beginning, we planned a space for a loudspeaker positioned between Gro and Fenja — not as a smaller or larger alternative, but as its own distinct interpretation of the SV-Audio philosophy.

Design & Identity

The solid aluminum front baffle, featuring the machined SV-Audio logo and the company’s trademarked radiating pattern, forms a central part of Astrid’s visual and acoustic identity.

Functionally, the radiating pattern helps reduce reflections across the front surface, contributing to improved clarity and focus throughout the presentation.

Driver Configuration

A true line source construction
The high-frequency driver is a silk dome ring radiator with a neodymium motor system. It is selected for its ability to reproduce overtones with clarity, openness, and control, allowing fine detail to emerge naturally without becoming sharp or fatiguing while preserving air, texture, and resolution even at lower volumes.

For mid- and low frequencies, Astrid uses woven, self-reinforced polypropylene cones selected for their internal damping, structural stability, and long-term listening comfort.

Operating together across the same frequency range as a true line source system, the four 5” drivers contribute to an open and natural presentation with clarity, tonal coherence, balance, and consistency. The increased aggregate membrane area allows Astrid to move air with greater authority and stability, creating a presentation that feels larger, more physical, and more effortless.

The result is a soundstage with a stronger connection between voices, instruments, and space, where recordings unfold with openness and natural flow.

What Sets Us Apart

Astrid is developed around the idea that all drivers should behave as one coherent system. A relatively low crossover point helps preserve smooth integration, timing, and realism throughout the critical vocal region.

The crossover network is built around carefully selected low-resistance components refined through extensive listening and measurement, helping maintain seamless integration and a balanced presentation across the full frequency range.

Cabinet & Construction

Astrid uses a dual-chamber cabinet construction, internally separating the drivers into individual bass chambers.

This construction helps reduce standing waves and unwanted interaction between the drivers, leading to improved clarity, stability, and low-frequency control throughout the presentation.
Combined with carefully tuned porting and precise time alignment, Astrid maintains openness and coherence while preserving physical presence and authority.

Signal Integrity

Equipped with SV-Audio branded terminals, Astrid is designed to provide a secure and stable connection.

Internally, the loudspeaker uses a pure copper wiring configuration, ensuring efficient signal transfer with minimal loss while preserving detail, timing, and tonal integrity.

Sound That Matters

From machining and cabinet craftmanship to painting, assembly, and final quality assurance, Astrid is developed and built in Denmark with vertically integrated in-house production.

Every loudspeaker is assembled with the same goal in mind: allowing recordings to unfold naturally, without distraction between listener and performance.
